Sorry for the skipped month in February, but here is the Feb blog post. Just a little late. No excuses; just the life grind.
Spider-Man 2. What can I say? I waited a good while for this to come out, and man oh man, I can say that overall, it was a great addition to the collection. Between the amazing scenery while you are swinging through the city, to the very satisfying fighting that comes along with almost every game in this series...you can't go wrong. That said, there is definitely something missing and I've struggled to put a finger on it until lately as I was rewatching some other streamers play the game. It's the cutscenes. They are the con. Let me explain.
So to be a bit repetitive, I LOVE the storyline, from the first game released, to Miles' spin-off, to this one, absolutely. But when watching the cutscenes which help to deliver the story, I feel like I'm watching something from the early-on PS4 or even at the very worst, the late end of the PS3. I mean, maybe I've just gotten too picky in my old age, but man, something just wasn't right with it. Felt so under-done in the cutscenes. For me though, that's the ONLY con I experienced playing through. Other people would argue that they didn't care for the actual content and how the story went; I have to completely disagree. This has been an amazing story. Right in the title.
I won't say a whole lot here because I know a lot of people haven't played all the way through and I HATE stumbling across spoilers myself. But let me say this...the grind for collectibles is not anywhere near as bad as the first game, making obtaining the Platinum trophy for you hunters so much easier. And you'll get to play a few other characters besides the mains of Peter and Miles. Trust me, you'll love it.
Overall, I will give this game a 9.5/10 mainly because I feel like the devs could have put a little more into the story animations; but they knocked it out of the park with absolutely everything else in the game.
Until next time!
