Vanguard. What can I say about the old tried and true formula that Call of Duty brings around every year? Not much...while I find Cold War to be one of the most well established staples in the series, this one is not the worst out of the ones I've ventured through.
Campaign: very solid story. Popular belief as always is that it was too short, but eh. It's got enough content and fluid behind the characters you play as to hold your attention. I especially enjoy the scenes where you surviving requires you to have another NPC draw the attention of a sniper group. That's one of those that really make you feel like you are in the action. Some good moments in the story as well to get you in your feelings. Bravo Sledgehammer/Activision.
Zombies: This is an odd addition in the Sledgehammer world, because usually you get spec ops or something along that line which is a super variation of what zombies are. In this case though, you get thrown into this weird centralized location with up to 3 more people. Here, like any other zombie iteration, you have to go through waves of zombies. The portals at the start put you in different extensions of the map, and of course you get tougher zombies as you progress further into the game. Not bad, in my opinion.
Multiplayer: This is where the shit really hits the fan. Cold War's multiplayer really hit home and came out with a very balanced, solid multiplayer experience. This pile of dog shit brought to us with Vanguard is the worst, IMO of course. Don't get me wrong. I love spawning into quick paced matches just to be met with endless thermite and gas on a map the size of a corner of Nuketown. Spawning itself is also a nightmare. Nothing like jumping into a hive of 6 members of the opposite team and get eliminated immediately. Back to back times, over and over. However, it still has some stunning visuals to say nonetheless, so there's that I guess.
Overall, I'd give it a 6/10 if we were rating it here. Which I guess we just did.
Until next time, gamers!
